The department is run by the Chief, Terry Combs, who has been in the fire service since 1972, all of which has been at Cove Creek. Under him is Phil Presnell who is the Assistant Chief. There are also one officer for the First Responders, Captain Chad Cole.
Each Fire officer is assigned a squad, where he has about 10-12 fireman to train. Each officer is assigned a Monday night which is called a squad night.
We do offer a Junior FireFighter program. You have to be between 16 & 18 years of age, and have a clean driving record. You have to keep a C average in school and stay out of trouble. The juniors do alot for the department. They train with everybody and do almost everything senior firefighters do. They can not drive the Trucks till they are 21 years old (thats what the state makes us do,sorry).
As a member of the fire department, after 20 years of service, you are able to draw a pension through the NC Firemans Association.
